WebShots - Share Your Shots On The Web

I’ve just set up a new category, where we will talk about websites offering online photo sharing. There are many places where you can upload your albums, but it may be a bit time-consuming to hunting for them and try if they meet your expectations. We will focus on the well-established photo sites only, and there must be an option for free membership. One of the largest site of this kind is called WebShots. In the free version, you can upload 240 photos in total, up to 2400x2400 pixels in size. Good!

You can make the uploading a little bit easier with The Webshots Desktop application. It will also wants to set up wallpaper and screensaver on your PC, and deliver you new “Daily Photos” daily, so it’s a bit addictive stuff - I ended up with a new sunset photo on my desktop. But let’s talk about uploading: You can create albums with name and description, and then stuff photos into them - well, with name and description. That’s pretty much all you can set, so you don’t have to worry about learning some advanced features. You can have a look at one Phoetica’s album called In The Botanic Garden (a few flower photos there). The webpage of your album will looks just like this. No comments, no ratings, no other silly things - just your photos displayed.

Moreover, Webshots has a really huge database of pictures, so you can browse and browse and browse. I tried to search for butterfly photos, and I’ve got more than 1,000 of them! Oh folks, I really look forward to my retirement. I will reserve one day to see all the butterfly photos on Webshots.
